As you all probably know, we had a big snowstorm hit the Northeast Monday into Tuesday. They were calling for strong winds, power outages, and extremely poor visibility when driving. On Monday morning, Riley and I headed to the grocery store to stock up on essentials; water, diapers, brownie mix..you know the essentials :). And headed back home to ride out the storm.
Mike had a full day of work (living on campus, you don't really get snow days), but he DID have Tuesday off. So we went about our normal night and went to sleep waiting to see what the storm had in store.
This is what we woke up to.
We had about 2 feet of snow on the ground and with the blown snow, our porch had about 4 feet. The snow was light and fluffy (makes me want to go skiing!) so thankfully we had power and our Direct TV was still working! Yes!
Riley was pretty excited about all the snow.
When Mike woke up and saw all the snow, he was like a little kid on Christmas morning. He grew up in California and although he experienced snow in the mountains, he has never experienced snow where he lives. He put on his snow gear and headed out to shovel off our porch to make some room for us to walk through.
After Ry's morning nap, the storm had stopped so we suited up and headed outside for some fun in the snow.
The snow is almost as tall as she is!
She didn't like being plopped in the snow, but enjoyed looking at it. She was definitely intrigued.
Then we came inside to warm up and enjoy Riley's new ball pit.
And some snuggles with Daddy.
After her after noon nap, we had a snack and suited up and went back outside to play in the snow.
Riley enjoyed the snow a little bit more this time around.
We had a wonderful snow day as a family. It is days like this that I want to stop time and soak up as much of it as I can. I love my little family.
Hope you all had a wonderful day, and if you were in the Northeast that you all were safe and well!
Happy Wednesday!
